Fórsa conferences: Members decide

Fórsa puts its members and branches at the centre of decision-making. The union has paid officials to advise on policy and implement it. But it’s members who decide.

This is done through a biennial cycle of delegate conferences. A national union conference – with delegates from all Fórsa branches – takes place every two years. Divisional conferences – made up of delegates from branches in each of the union’s divisions – takes paces in the alternate year.

The national conference deals with issues that affect the entire membership, while the divisional conferences – one each for health, education, local government, services and enterprises, and the civil service – ensure that members and branches keep control of matters that affect their grades or workplaces alone.
