Fórsa Youth

Fórsa Youth is a network for members ages 18-35 across all six divisions in the union. The purpose of the network is to build connection and campaigns on the issues that impact younger members, expand youth participation in the union, and give a voice to young workers.

Fórsa Youth hosts events for members year-round. From educational talks and workers’ rights information sessions to table quizzes and social gatherings, it’s a great way to meet other young Fórsa members, share ideas, and build connections.

The network is always looking for new members to get active and engage with the union’s mission. If you’re interest in getting more involved email us at youthsec@forsa-rep.ie and follow @forsa.youth on Instagram.

The Fórsa Youth Charter sets out the network’s guiding principles, goals, and commitments for the coming years. The charter reaffirms Fórsa Youth’s role in empowering young workers, and focuses on youth participation across Fórsa’s six divisions, building links with other trade unions, lobbying for better housing for young workers, and promoting fairness in the workplace.

  • Promote Fórsa and Fórsa Youth interests through organising, campaigning and recruitment
  • Actively encourage youth participation across all six divisions of our Union while equipping young workers with skills, training, and confidence to be effective leaders in their personal life and workplace.
  • Build links with other trade unions, student unions, movements and youth groups both in Ireland and internationally, acknowledging that young people are the future of the workplace.
  • Support pay negotiations for fair worker compensation and ensure youth issues are considered during discussions.
  • As the youth committee of the largest public sector trade union on the island, Fórsa Youth will actively support better public services and campaign against the outsourcing of public work.
  • Actively research, campaign and lobby on the chronic housing crisis in Ireland, recognising it is one of the primary issues faced by Fórsa Youth members.
  • Ensure issues faced by members, including but not limited to the cost of living, childcare, disability access and supports, and the full range of physical and mental issues are considered in negotiations and union policy and campaigns.
  • Research and campaign to ensure members enjoy freedom of expression and freedom from discrimination in their workplaces, and ensure all members enjoy the dignity at work they deserve, with specific support for groups who need it most.
