Minimum wage
Under the Minimum Wage Act (2000) all employees over the age of 20 must be paid a rate of €14.15 per hour since 1 January 2026. Workers aged 19 and younger must be paid the following per hour rates: €12.74 (90%) for workers aged 19, €11.32 (80%) for workers aged 18, and $9.91 (70%) for workers aged 17 and under. You cannot agree to a rate of pay below the minimum wage, or unpaid work, unless you are employed by a close family relative or you are taking up recognised apprenticeship.
