Fórsa’s message after far-right riots in Dublin

Solidarity rally, 1pm Monday 27 November, GPO in Dublin.

A message from Fórsa trade union.

Thank you to the people who no doubt saved lives yesterday. To the ordinary people at the scene of the stabbing and the emergency response, to all the school staff and parents. Who risked everything and confronted the attacker, who acted with extraordinary bravery, and who cared for each other.

Our hearts are with those who were injured and their loved ones.

Thank you to all those who protected our city last night, in the face of such mindless violence. Who got people home safely. Who are cleaning up the destruction left behind by the far-right rioters. We are proud that many of our trade union members are out there today, helping the city and its people recover.

To our members, colleagues, friends, and family who are migrants or ethnic minorities, or anyone who feels unsafe today – know that the vast majority of Ireland stands with you. That we are proud to work alongside you, as part of our communities, and grateful for everything you contribute to our shared island.

Those spreading hate and fear have nothing to offer anyone.

Stand together, stand strong.
