Community care boost for HSCPs

The first phase of implementation of an independent report on career pathways for health and social care professionals (HSCPs) has been boosted by the creation of 48 enhanced community care networks (ECCNs).

The new networks are being created as part of the HSE’s pandemic response plan for the next 18 months, accelerating the need for HSCP recruitment.

Fórsa’s head of Health and Welfare, Éamonn Donnelly, said this would mean the recruitment of an estimated 1,500 HSCPs over the period.

“The campaign for the recruitment of over 700 basic grade therapists is already up and running, as the creation of these networks demand greater service capacity. The HSE has agreed to request an advance interim report from the independent facilitator. This would mean the conversion of basic grade therapists, with five years’ service or more, to senior grade therapists,” he said.
