Negotiations on public service pay concluded without agreement at the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) in the early hours of this morning (Friday 17th June).
Though some progress was made in the talks, which reopened yesterday morning, there remains a significant gap between the two sides.
Fórsa general secretary Kevin Callinan, who leads the union side in the talks, said the gap couldn’t be bridged unless the Government side is prepared to shift its position.
No further engagement has been scheduled at this time, and the WRC has asked both the unions and Government side to reflect on their positions.
Fórsa general secretary Kevin Callinan will brief all ICTU-affiliated public service unions at a virtual meeting of the ICTU Public Services Committee this morning.
We will issue a further update in due course.
