Global Pilots on Aeroflot flight 1492

Statement by the International Federation of Air Line Pilots’ Associations (IFALPA)

MONTREAL – The International Federation of Air Line Pilots’ Associations (IFALPA) would like to express its most sincere condolences to the families of the passengers and crew affected by Sunday’s tragic accident of Aeroflot flight 1492, a Sukhoi Superjet 100-95B, that was car-rying out an emergency landing at Moscow, Sheremetyevo International Airport, Russia.

IFALPA stresses the need to avoid speculation as to the circumstances of this accident and calls for the technical investigation to follow the provisions laid out in ICAO Annex 13, with the main objective being the gathering of facts, the determination of the accident’s contrib-uting factors and the drafting of safety recommendations that will seek to prevent any re-occurrence.
