Border unit row for adjudication

The departments of public expenditure and justice have agreed to an immediate adjudication on Fórsa’s dispute in Dublin airport’s Border Management Unit following an overwhelming ballot in favour of industrial action.

Following a meeting with union reps in the airport earlier this week, the union agreed to proceed with the adjudication on the basis that management had indicated it would engage with the process positively, and acknowledged the existence of the disputed Sunday premium elsewhere in the civil service.

Fórsa went to ballot over management’s refusal to pay a Sunday premium, which the union says is a requirement under Irish and European working time legislation.
